BATH — The Bath Cal Ripken Minor Division doubleelimination tournament kicked off recently, with The Plant Home and Wilson’s scoring first-round victories.

The Plant Home received a stellar performance from Josiah Yeaton, who hurled four solid inning with seven strikeouts and helped his own cause at the plate, going 2-for- 2, in a 14-3 victory over Montsweag Roadhouse.

Joey Cholish, Jackson Walker and Logan Pelletier were also 2-for-2 for the victors, while Isaak Fleming and Alec Robson each singled. Thomas Warren chipped in a double and made a nice throw to nab a runner at the plate after a relay throw from Nate Mains.

For Montsweag Roadhouse, Jack Leonard pitched all three innings, striking out six and accounting for his team’s only hit on a third-inning single.

In the second first-round contest, Wilson’s outslugged Cahill’s, 13-10.

Sam Sinibaldi, Ken Bassett and Ethan Testa combined for 17 strikeouts and 11 walks in the win. Cahill’s was held to two hits.

Caleb Tibbits led Wilson’s 10-hit attack with a double and single. Sinibaldi had three singles, followed by Matt Beard with two singles. Bassett, Jansen Morrison and Mitchell Whorff also had hits for Wilson’s.

Nicco Bartone, Brogan Shaw, Ethan Upham and Karl Shumaker paced Cahill’s with 11 strikeouts and 11 walks. Brenton Hill and Wade Bradford singled for Cahill’s in the hard-fought, back-and-forth battle that took the full six innings to settle.

The Plant Home and Wilson’s later met in a winner’s bracket contest, with The Plant Home coming away with an 11-1 victory.

The victors took advantage of 12 walks, and coupled them with singles from Walker, Warren and Pelletier to post a victory.

With the win, The Plant Home advances to the championship round. Flaming and Warren pitched, each working two inning and picking five strikeouts each.

For Wilson’s, the offense was led Bassett and Domenic Dickenson, who each singled, and received good defensive support from Bassett, Sinibaldi and Testa.
