NORTH BATH — Robert James and Dorothy E. (Brann) Kaler Sr., of Whiskeag Road in North Bath, recently observed their 70th wedding anniversary.

They were married on Oct. 16, 1943.

Dorothy was treasurer for Kaler Oil Co., Inc. from its beginning in 1956 until her recent semi-retirement. She still fills in part-time and watches over the office.

Robert was the owner and president of Kaler Oil from the start until turning over the operations to his son, Robert J. Kaler Jr., in recent times. Working with Robert Jr. in the family business are his sister, three of his sons and a daughter-in-law.

The Kalers have two children, Robert J. Kaler Jr. and his finacee Judy Nickerson of North Bath, and Donna Marie K. Waterman and her husband Richard of Brunswick.

The Kalers have four grandsons: Ronald J. Kaler and his wife Melissa and their two children Brittany and Ryan and Brittany’s son Brett; Stephen J. and his wife Katherine and two daughters Ashley and Brittany; Michael J. and his wife Tanya and two sons Joshua and Vincent James; and Brent J. and his wife Rebecca and their daughter Madysen Brooke.

The Kalers have five generations of family.

They celebrated their 70th anniversary with a family get-together at their home. The anniversary cake was a special creation of Judy Nickerson.
