FALMOUTH — Maine Audubon will present findings from its “Wind Power and Wildlife in Maine” report today at 6 p.m. at Gilsland Farm Audubon Center.
Susan Gallo, staff wildlife biologist, will present findings from the report that assesses where onshore wind power development can be sited to avoid or minimize impact on wildlife. She will also address the feasibility of Maine’s goal of generating 3,000-megawatt capacity of wind power by 2030 with minimal impact to wildlife.
David Publicover, senior staff scientist at the Appalachian Mountain Club, will discuss AMC’s assessment of conservation priorities in high-elevation areas in the Northeast and how this information can help direct future wind power projects away from ecologically significant areas.
The event is open to the public. Copies of a summary report will be available.
