Erin McGee Ferrell of Falmouth is an urban contemporary painter. She is represented by Portland Art Gallery on Middle Street and also puts together books of her paintings. “I am a people person,” she said. “I seek out places to paint amongst crowds of people.” Ferrell, who studied oil painting at Mount Holyoke College, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, The University of the Arts in Philadelphia and the University of Louisville, said not having a reliable salary is the hardest part of her job. “What I do is very dependent of other people’s timing,” she said. “My goal is to be inspired by Maine, but sell mostly outside of Maine.”
