David Gerrior

WINDHAM – David Gerrior, 80, passed away on March 8, 2025, at Gosnell House.

He was born in Augusta in August 1944. A true free spirit, Dave lived life on his own terms – confident that the highway was always nearby for those who disagreed. Known to many as “Davey” or “Frogman,” he was a natural storyteller, tinkerer, devoted friend, and man of many passions. He loved hunting and fishing, especially in the Parmachenee and Eustis areas, and had a deep connection to Casco Bay.

Anything fast caught his attention, from stock cars and motorcycles to boats and snowmobiles. In his younger years, Dave was known for his adventurous antics – jumping out of first-floor windows at NYA, drag racing in South Portland, and pulling off fire drills and globe shenanigans at Babson College.

He started his professional life at SD Warren and made his career in construction sales all across Maine.

Dave was predeceased by his parents; and beloved sister, Brooke.

He leaves behind his cherished golden retriever, Jake; many dear friends; and his daughters Jennifer (Stephen) Haines of Cape Elizabeth and Hilary (Rick) Doane of Cumberland. He was a proud grandfather to Olivia Babine, Ian, Katie, and Elijah Haines, as well as Zachary and Maxwell Doane.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at Mercy Hospital’s fourth floor, especially nurses Liz and Lisa, Dr. Richmond, and the compassionate staff at Gosnell House.

In keeping with Dad’s wishes, he didn’t want a “rigmarole” and his ashes will be spread at a secret fishing hole. A celebration of Dave’s life will be held this spring.
