SCARBOROUGH – Robert W. Holmes, 83, of Scarborough, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Nov. 22, 2025.

He is survived by his wife, Linda who always affectionally called him “Joey”, his beloved children, Andrew, (wife Jackie), Susan, and Julie, (husband Dave) and his special grandchildren, Maris Holmes and “Davy” Sugarbaker. He is also survived by his brother Wilbur Holmes, (wife Betty) and many nieces and nephews.

Bob and Linda have been together for almost 67 years. They loved to ski, and especially visit Marco Island, Fla., and Pine Point. Once they both retired, they were always together.

He was a great supporter of all his children’s activities, especially baseball and soccer. He loved coaching Andy’s Little League teams, taking his girls fishing, and telling them about his summers on Collins Pond, a place he loved returning to later in life with Sue.

Bob was a very creative individual and loved his hobbies. He loved working on his computer and sharing ideas with Andy about their different perspectives on the stockmarket. He loved his animated conversations with Julie about big ideas and curiosity about life and was always generous with his guiding wisdom during life’s most meaningful moments.

His entire life was spent being happy, (especially while on his beloved deck) smiling, being kind and always ready to offer help when needed.

For 30 years, he owned his own business as a Private Contractor for the U.S. Postal Service, with contracts throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, and New York.

A private service will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery.
