Church hosting Thanksgiving dinner
The Old Orchard Beach United Methodist Church will host its 11th Annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at 6 Fountain Ave.
The dinner is free and the church offers rides to and from the meal for residents and those living in Saco or Biddeford. Meals also will be delivered to individuals and families in Saco or Biddeford who make advance reservations.
The church plans to serve close to 300 meals on Thanksgiving Day throughout the Saco Bay area.
If you or someone you know needs a place to go for a hot meal on Thanksgiving, or you are willing to volunteer to provide transportation for guests or to deliver meals to homes, call 934-5553 and leave a message, or email to info@oobumchurch.org.
NORTH BERWICK
Be neighborly, visit craft fair
The eighth annual Neighborly Craft Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the North Berwick Elementary School.
All proceeds will benefit the local food pantry and the fuel assistance fund.
The event will include crafts, raffles, a Fine Arts Silent Auction, refreshments and lunch.
Bring a canned good and receive a free raffle ticket.
ROCKLAND
Holiday drawing classes for kids
Children ages 10 and younger are invited to explore motifs from the traditional celebrations of December during “Let’s Draw Pictures and Cards for the Holiday Season!” drawing classes, to be offered from 4 to 5 p.m. each Tuesday in December at Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St.
Led by Catinka Knoth, the classes will meet in the Community Room and review the images and traditions of seasonal celebrations of Christmas, Hanukkah, winter solstice, Kwanza and the new year.
Students will create images such as holiday wreaths, trees, gingerbread houses, ornaments and decorations; Santa Claus, toys, and elves; reindeer and sleighs; gift giving and more.
The class is free with all materials supplied.
The schedule is: Chanukah and Christmas trees, Dec. 1; gingerbread houses and holiday decorations, Dec. 8; Christmas holiday cards, Dec. 15; winter solstice and Kwanza, Dec. 22; and New Year’s celebrations, Dec. 29.

BRUNSWICK
Pups ‘from away’ at adoption event
The Coastal Humane Society will host a premiere “Black Furiday” adoption event from 7 a.m. to noon Friday at 30 Range Road.
The event will feature around 40 puppies and adult dogs, most rescued from an overcrowded Georgia shelter.
From 7 to 9 a.m., the adoption fees for all puppies, kittens and dogs will be discounted $75. From 9 to 11 a.m., the discount will be $50, and from 11 a.m. to noon, the discount will be $25. The fee for adult cats will be waived all day. Also, throughout the day, two adoptions will be selected at random to be fee-waived.
The Coastal Humane Society mascot will be present in his Santa outfit and ready for photos with shelter visitors.
Images of adoptable animals will be viewable on the shelter’s Facebook page starting Tuesday, at facebook.com/CoastalHumaneSociety.

Teens to Trails celebration
T3 Teens to Trails will host a celebration honoring its donors, volunteers and partners from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at its 98 Maine St. headquarters.
Light refreshments will be served.

Tree lighting, Santa sighting
The Brunswick Downtown Association will host its annual tree lighting ceremony with Santa from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Brunswick Town Mall.
The event will include free horse-and-carriage rides, hot cocoa, coffee and cookies.
Santa will arrive on a firetruck and visit with children from 3 to 5 p.m. at the gazebo.

PORTLAND
Free Thanksgiving Day dinner
Wayside Food Programs will provide a free community Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Portland Club, 156 State St.
This complete holiday meal is for those who might not otherwise have the means to prepare one or who want to enjoy the company of others on the holiday.
More than 100 volunteers will pitch in to prepare and serve about 300 meals, which will feature 35 turkeys cooked at DiMillo’s Restaurant & Lounge.
Wayside also is teaming up with Garbage to Garden to make this year’s dinner a zero-waste event.
