Gladys M. Beaulieu
BIDDEFORD – Gladys Beaulieu passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, after 96 well-lived years.
Gladys was born on Nov. 19, 1929, in Connor Township, to Paul Beaulieu and Elise (Parent) Morin. At a young age, she moved to Southern Maine and settled in Biddeford for the rest of her life.
Gladys lived her life believing in three major things:
First, family was incredibly important. She loved family gatherings, especially Christmas Eve celebrations at her children’s houses. She was always excited to spend time with her grandkids (and later, great-grandkids) and loved family cookouts. Gladys could eat like someone twice her size and never gain a pound. Some consider it her superpower.
Second, she believed in the value of hard work. She spent most of her working career at Shape Inc., a company that specialized in plastic injection molding. In her later years, she worked a part-time job bagging newspapers for the Biddeford-Saco Courier. She constantly bragged that she was able to bag twice the papers compared to her younger counterparts. When she was not working, she would clean her apartment until it was immaculate.
Finally, animals brought her constant joy. There was no quicker way to get a smile on her face than to put an animal in her lap. As an adult, she doted on her pet parakeet Elijah and rabbit Lesley. She also fell in love with any cat or dog that was in the vicinity. She was consistently plotting to adopt any of her children or grandchildren’s dogs and cats.
Preceding Gladys in death was her son, Alberic Percy Dionne; two sisters, Lorraine Kerrick and Irene Beaulieu, four brothers, Wallace, Gilbert, Harvey, and Joseph Beaulieu; and two sons-in-law, Rickie Brooks and Norman Cote.
Gladys is survived by her daughters Jean Brooks of Biddeford, Rachel Casavant (Marc) of Lyman, and Patricia Cote of Biddeford; six grandchildren, Jason Casavant, Steven Dionne, Erica Lamontagne, Kristel Hill, Brad Cote, and Douglas Cote; as well as many great-grandchildren; nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by one brother, Leo Beaulieu, and three sisters, Lorette Romboletti, Jeannette Therrien, and Annette Perkins.
