Ann Patricia Foley

PORTLAND – Ann Patricia Foley passed away on June 15, 2026, at the age of 90, surrounded by her friends at the Barron Center.

She was born in Portland on July 30, 1935, to Philip Foley and Nora Walsh. Ann was the granddaughter of Eamon McDermott and Maura Folan of Loughanbeag, County Galway, Ireland. Her Irish heritage and her family held a special place in her heart, and those who knew her will remember her dedication to those less fortunate, quick wit, humility, and independence. Ann attended St. Dominic Catholic School and graduated from Cathedral High School in Portland.

Ann was a devout Catholic and successful businesswoman with a career in banking and publishing before serving the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland for 32 years. During her tenure, she was the executive assistant to the Vice Chancellor and Vicar General in the Bishop’s Office. She later joined the Mission Office and served as the Director of the Pontifical Mission-Aid Societies and the appointment agent for Catholic Relief Services in Maine. Her dedication to Maine missionaries and her efforts to support global relief were recognized both locally and internationally. Ann’s faith was deeply reflected not only through her work but in her generosity toward those in need.

Ann was predeceased by her mother, Nora Walsh, her father, Philip Foley; brother, Joseph Gerard Foley, sister, Mary Foley; stepfather, Thomas Walsh; and best friends Patricia “Tita” Malia and Josephine Patricia Marr.

She is survived by many other extended family relatives and close friends. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the staff at the Barron Center, Hospice of Southern Maine and Andwell Health Partners, Conroy Tully Walker Funeral Home, as well as the Marr Family for their unending support over the years.

Visiting hours will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 22 at the new Conroy-Tully Walker Cremation, Funeral, and Gathering Center, 300 Allen Ave., Portland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress St., Portland.
