Portland Police Department on Sunday spoofed the “Back to the Future” movie series with a report of a traffic stop that included a photo of a cruiser behind a DeLorean DMC-12.
The memed photo reads, “CLOCKED HIM AT 87MPH … ALMOST LOST HIM.”
The reference is to the sports car used as a time machine in the movies. In order to activate the flux capacitor and enter temporal displacement the time machine had to reach a speed of 88 mph.
Officer Abbott was able to stop the car before it got away, the post said.
The post also said the alleged speeder’s excuse was that he needed to go back to 1955 to make his parents part of the popular crowd.
The department questioned whether that would hold up in traffic court.
