Our View:LePage disarray not fault of regulations
Gov. LePage can grouse all he wants about the inflexibility of state regulations, but the responsibility for Wednesday's meltdown belongs to his own administration. There was some sloppy work done by the people who evaluated candidates for some of the state's most important jobs and more done by those who are supposed to communicate with the public.

Our View:Scenery vs. billboards is no contest
Those with long memories may recall 1984 as the year the last billboard on a Maine highway came down. An effort in 2003 to change the law failed. A quarter of a century without billboards is a real achievement. Why mess it up now?

Our View: Too early for Obamato start the next campaign
Maybe it's just the politics of the times -- policy gridlock, do-nothing legislatures, perpetual campaigns. But it's nonetheless distressing to see the president of the United States focused on his re-election effort in a way that makes it seem, at least, that he cares about nothing else.
