The Scarborough and South Portland boys and girls soccer teams were very well represented on this year’s Southwestern Maine Activities Association all-star teams. The Red Storm and the Red Riots both had a number of talented individuals among the top student-athletes in the league.

The SMAA boys first team all-star squad included sophomore midfielder Buddy Reid and junior back Teddy Palmer of Scarborough.

The second team included four more Red Storm players: junior forward Nick Broadhurst, senior midfielder Chris Kipp, junior back Nick Tolman, and junior goalkeeper Adam Blanchard. South Portland senior back Bryce McOsker was also a second team all-star.

Scarborough players who received honorable mention included junior forward Ian Philbrick and junior back Sean Sinclair. And South Portland’s honorable mention players were senior forward Nick Link, senior midfielder Will Furbush, and junior goalkeeper Ryan Chapin.

Scarborough’s Joe Kennedy earned a spot on the SMAA boys All-Academic team.

The Scarborough girls soccer team placed two players on the first team all-star squad. Red Storm senior forward Alex Laniewski and senior midfielder Lexi Udeh were both first team selections as was South Portland senior midfielder Jessica Aceto.

Two Red Storm players were selected to the second team: senior forward Devon Leighton and senior back Katherine Thorpe.

Scarborough senior midfielder Amanda Daudelin and junior back Megan Cowie were both chosen as honorable mentions. And South Portland senior midfielder Stephanie Masters was also an honorable mention selection.

South Portland’s Jessica Aceto and Scarborough’s Alex Laniewski were both honored for their work in the classroom with each student-athlete earning a spot on the SMAA All-Academic team.
