Old Town Canoe history

Benson Gray will present “The Canoe Builders of the Penobscot,” an illustrated history of Old Town and other canoe builders from the Penobscot River valley, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Camden Public Library, 55 Main St.

Gray is a direct descendant of the founders of the Old Town Canoe Co. An authentic birch bark and other examples of canoes will be displayed. For more details, call 236-3440.

Morrison Center yard sale

The Morrison Center will hold its third annual 25 Cent Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 30 at the center, 60 Chamberlain Road.

Used clothing for all ages, toys, books and miscellaneous small items will be on sale for 25 cents. Organizers are looking for donations.

All proceeds will support the center’s programs. The Morrison Center is a nonprofit organization that offers services to children and adults with and without disabilities.

Driving class for seniors

A driving class for senior citizens will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Cape Elizabeth Fire Department, 2 Jordan Way.

Seniors who complete the South Portland and Cape Elizabeth TRIAD class will be eligible for a reduction in their car insurance.

The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers. The class is limited to 20 students.

Post-traumatic stress event

Maine Veterans for Peace is holding its fourth symposium on post-traumatic stress disorder at 9 a.m. Saturday at the University of Southern Maine’s Abromson Center.

Speakers include Dr. David Meyer, staff psychologist with the PTSD Clinical Treatment Team at Togus VA Medical Center, and Kate Braestrup, a community minister with the Maine Warden Service and author of “Here If You Need Me.”

There will be workshops about noninvasive treatment of PTSD; military sexual trauma; and treatments used for returning veterans.

Walks to benefit Habitat

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland will hold several walks this week to raise money to finish three homes in Westbrook and to begin another three homes in Freeport.
