AWARDS and RECOGNITION

• Paul Wainman, president of William Arthur Inc., the fine stationery company in West Kennebunk, was recognized by the United Way of York County with its 2011 Elise Kittredge Award. Wainman, of Kennebunk, is treasurer of the United Way of York County and has been a member of its board of directors since April 2006.

• Susan Nason, of Clark Insurance, was named the 2011 Insurance Professional of the Year by the Insurance Professionals of Greater Portland. Nason, of Portland, has worked in the insurance industry for 34 years and is a member of the Clark Insurance Architects and Engineers Group. She is a two-time winner of the award. She received the same honor in 2005.

GENERAL

• Former Gov. Angus King and business executives Bruce Wagner and Carolyn Chin joined Woodard & Curran’s board of directors.

King served as governor from 1995 to 2003 and has 30 years of experience as an attorney and 20 years’ experience in energy conservation and alternative energy. He is currently of counsel with Bernstein Shur of Portland, and is a lecturer at Bates and Bowdoin colleges.

Wagner is president of Traverse CEO, providing executive management support to firms. He also serves on the Board of Directors at Mercy Hospital in Portland.

Chin is CEO of CeBiz, a consulting and investment firm. She has held executive positions with IBM, Reuters, Citibank and AT&T.

• Michael Swartz, general manager of Tilson Technology Management, recently graduated from the Maine Development Foundation’s Leadership Maine program. The yearlong program brings leaders together from across the state to learn about Maine’s economy and exposes them to leadership styles used in the government, corporate and nonprofit sectors.

• Theodore Desveaux, Theresa Heseltine and Rita Thompson were re-elected to Coast Line Credit Union’s board of directors.
