Villani promoted head of Coldwell in N.E.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — NRT LLC, the nation’s largest residential real estate brokerage company, recently announced that Patricia Villani has been promoted to the role of president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in New England, effective Jan. 1.

In her new position, Villani will oversee the daily operations of the company’s 90 real estate offices and more than 4,000 sales associates and employees throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine. Villani most recently served as the company’s senior vice president and general sales manager.

Villani is replacing longtime president Rick Loughlin, who will remain with the company as president emeritus.

Harriman receives Building N.H. Award

AUBURN — Harriman was a recent recipient of the 2011 Building New Hampshire Award for its design of the new Idlehurst Elementary School.

The full-service architectural and engineering design firm was recognized with the award in the commercial category for its sustainable, highperformance design of the 82,000-square-foot school in Somersworth, N.H.

“We’re honored to be named a 2011 Building New Hampshire Award winner,” Clifton Greim, the company president, said in a news release. “Harriman has been committed to designing sustainable, energy-efficient buildings for decades, and we’re delighted that the new Idlehurst Elementary School is recognized for its numerous sustainable-design features.”

Macdonald appointed to commission

PORTLAND — Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, recently announced that attorney and shareholder Arnold Macdonald has been appointed to serve on the American Bar Association’s Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts Commission, which supports legal aid for those in need.

The commission accomplishes this with interest earned from legal trust accounts — at no cost to the public, attorneys or their clients — and operates in all 50 states, along with the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands.

Macdonald’s role as commission appointee will involve assisting the Maine branch in channeling IOLTA funds from participating attorneys to provide civil legal aid for the poor, law-related education and administration of justice programs.

“I strongly believe that every lawyer has an obligation to become involved with IOLTA,” said Macdonald. “IOLTA’s legal services and education help to even the playing field, ensuring that economic hardship does not stand in the way of obtaining justice.”

Macdonald is a member of the business law, construction, and real estate practice groups at Bernstein Shur.

A resident of Freeport, Macdonald is a member of Associated Contractors of Maine and a past president of the Freeport Conservation Trust. He received his J.D. from the University of Denver School of Law in 1985 and his B.A., cum laude, from Bowdoin College in 1981.

KeyBank names new sales leader

PORTLAND — KeyBank recently named Stephen Krolikowski as its sales leader, Business Banking for the Maine District.

According to a news release, he is responsible for providing management leadership and driving the sales results of the Business Banking team, which provides expertise and financial solutions to small business clients that generate annual revenues up to $10 million.

He will be based in the Maine District headquarters building at One Canal Plaza in Portland.

Prior to joining Key, Krolikowski was senior vice president and officer-in-charge, Commercial Banking, for Gold Coast Bank in Islandia, N.Y. He also worked as first vice president and district manager, Retail Banking, for State Bank of Long Island. He has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry.

CEI schedules homebuyer course

SOUTH PORTLAND — Coastal Enterprises, Inc., a nonprofit community development organization, with the support of Maine State Housing Authority, will offer the first-time homebuyer seminar on Saturdays, Jan. 7 and 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Money Management International in South Portland.

The purpose of the course is to help people prepare for and be well informed about the process of buying a home.

Sweetser annouces two new employees

PORTLAND — Ron Welch has been hired as Sweetser’s director of Peer Support Services.

Prior to joining Sweetser, Welch was the director of the State Office of Mental Health for six years. The previous 10 years he spent as the executive director of the Maine Association of Mental Health Services. Other prior positions included the director of the Bureau of Mental Retardation (now the Office of Cognitive and Physical Disabilities) and the acting deputy commissioner under Gov. John McKernan.

Welch has a B.A. degree in philosophy from the University of Maine at Orono, an M.B.A. from the University of Southern Maine and a M.S.W. from Boston College.

Welch lives in Yarmouth with his wife.

Elizabeth Bailey has been named Sweetser’s new director of Adult Community Integrated and Children’s Target- ed Case Management Services.

In this role, Bailey will be supervising all adult and child case managers.

Before joining Sweetser, Bailey was the director of Central Intake at Opportunity Alliance, a position she held for 10 years. Prior to that she was director of Family Intervention Services for Opportunity Alliance in Cumberland.

Bailey has a M.S.W. from the University of New England and lives in Harpswell.

Eliassen among top sales advisers

BRUNSWICK — According to a news release, lia sophia recently announced top honors for its Excellent Beginnings Program achievers for their outstanding sales accomplishments and professionalism.
