PORTLAND — Municipal crews are taking advantage of today’s cold temperatures to flood several of the city’s ponds to provide excellent outdoor skating opportunities in the coming days.

Ponds at Payson Park and on Ludlow Street, near Deering High School, should be resurfaced and open for skating by Thursday morning, according to a news release from the city.

The pond at Riverside Golf Course, the city’s only lighted outdoor rink, should be open to the public by the weekend. The pond at Deering Oaks is already open.
