BRUNSWICK — A kickoff rally for this year’s Bowl For Kids’ Sake fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bath/ Brunswick is scheduled to roll from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Spare Time Family Fun Center on Bath Road.

“Anyone interested in finding out more about Bowl for Kids’ Sake is invited to come,” Big Brothers Big Sisters release states. “At the rally, you will pick up your team packets, learn about this year’s prizes, our storybook theme, fundraising ideas and meet with community members in support of mentoring for local kids.

This year’s theme is “Once Upon a Time,” and participants are encouraged to dress and bowl like storybook characters.

Breakfast treats and coffee will be served at Thursday’s event. In case of inclement weather, the rally will take place at the same time on Jan. 19.

The Bowl For Kids’ Sake event will take place on March 31 at Spare Time Family Fun Center.

“The donor-funded organization challenges everyone — mentors and mentees, their friends and families, partners, community leaders, and others who may not have time to mentor but support Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mission — to join Bowl for Kids’ Sake and start something to change the life of a child forever,” the release states.

“Bowl for Kids’ Sake brings the whole community together in support of a positive future for our kids,” Lindsay MacDonald, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bath/Brunswick, said in the release. “ No matter how someone chooses to be involved — bowler, team captain or sponsor — each person has a hand in helping to start a child on the right path. Every dollar raised through Bowl for Kids’ Sake directly funds our mentoring programs in Brunswick, Harpswell and all of Sagadahoc

County and helps to maintain and sustain our mentoring relationships, increasing kids’ chances for success.”

Those who don’t bowl can support the program by pledging donations for bowlers or teams.
