ST. AUGUSTINE, FL — Virginia Monks Burr, 92, St. Augustine, died January 15, 2012 at the Glenmoor Health Center at World Golf Village.
She was born January 6, 1920 in New York City, daughter of the late Jerome and Mabel Monks. She had resided in St. Augustine since 2005, moving here from Stuart, FL. She was a member of San Sebastian Catholic Church.
A memorial service is planned for 4 p.m. Thursday, January 19 at the Glenmoor Chapel. Ginny was a devoted wife, mother, and friend, and she is missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Monroe Burr, St. Augustine; two daughters, Pam Smith, Brunswick, Maine, Sarah Burr (Timothy Lewis), Brooklyn, NY; son, John E. Burr (Karen Koster Burr), Jacksonville; a sister, Eileen Melvin, Southbury, CT; and two grandchildren, Emily Burr, Princeton, N.J., and Ian Burr, Jacksonville. A second son, Benjamin Jr., died in 2004.
St. Johns Family Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
