
He graduated from Westbrook High School in 1942 and joined the Navy serving his country during WW ll and was awarded "The American, European, African, Middle Eastern 1 star World War ll Victory Medal". He was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Ashlar Lodge, Lewiston, Maine, a member of Auburn- Lewiston Numanastic Society and a member of Elijah Kellogg Church in Harpswell. Carl loved to bowl and he was in the Wil Ryder Senior Citizen Bowling League in Brunswick, with perfect attendance, and held the High Series Handicap for 2011-2012.
He was a very talented artist, craftsman and a collector of coins and stamps. He made heirloom-quality doll houses for both his granddaughters. He also built model boats, airplanes and antique cars. His most remarkable display of artistic talent was the very detailed model ship, "The Queen Mary".
Carl is survived by his daughter Ellen Simand and her husband Gary, his son Wayne Quimby and his wife Carole, his daughter Carlene Petersen and her husband John, his five grandchildren: Kira Ellen Ehlenbeck and her husband Rick, Chad Wayne Simand and his wife Tiffany, Karl Ronald Simand and his wife Kim, Nicolas J. Petersen and his wife Shannyn and Elizabeth Ann Quimby, five great- grandc hildren: Matthew, Jenna, Aryanna, Trevor and Abygail, and his sister Barbara who will be 100 Years old in October. He was looking forward to having his sixth great-grandchild in November.
He is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie (Andrews), his parents Velma and Harold Quimby and his brothers and one sister. You may share your thoughts, condolences and fond memories with the Quimby family by visiting their guestbook at www.thefortingroupauburn.com.
Carl’s memorial service will be held on Wednesday May 16th, his beloved wife’s birthday. The service will be held at 2 PM at The Elijah Kellogg Church in Harpswell, Maine.
