BATH — Members of the Southern Maine Community College Bath Center and University College at Bath/Brunswick Student Association hosted a graduation celebration May 11 for both University of Maine System and Southern Maine Community College graduates who attended a number of their classes at the Midcoast Center for Higher Education in Bath.

The celebration, in the upstairs banquet hall at The Taste of Maine in Woolwich, was attended by 32 graduates, their families and friends, center faculty and staff.

Southern Maine Community College President Ronald Cantor spoke to the group. “He recalled his first visit to the Bath center before becoming

SMCC president, congratulated the graduates on balancing their complicated lives, and advised the graduates that he has a respect for all they did to accomplish their degrees,” a release about the ceremony states.

Adjunct professor Michael DeSisto, who teaches University of Maine at Augusta psychology and mental health and human services courses in Bath, congratulated the graduates on their upcoming graduation and noted, “It is indeed an honor and a privilege to be a part of your graduation celebration.”

He asked graduates to stand and address their family members, loved ones and friends. “Express your gratitude for the love and support that helped you be here today,” he told them.
