THE FIFTH ANNUAL Bath Area Family YMCA Triathlon was held under perfect conditions on Sunday. Eighty-one athletes participated in the triathlon, aquabike, duathlon, relay or teen triathlon. The event was originally planned for June 3, but was postponed due to torrential rain, causing the field to be slightly diminished from past years. The overall winner of the triathlon was Cameron Mitchell of Boothbay Harbor, who toured the 525-yard swim, 10-mile bike and a 5K run course in 59:34. The first female finisher was Michelle Bouchard, also of Boothbay Harbor, in a time of 1:16:51. Second place male was Jonathan Kelley of Caribou in a time of 1:01:24, and second female was Kim Norton of Peaks Island in a time of 1:17:48. Winner of the men’s duathlon was John St. Cyr of Lewiston in a time of 1:22:48, and second place in 1:23:06 was Norman Morgan of Lisbon Falls. First female in the duathlon was Michaela Stone of Alna in 1:36:49. The winning relay team of Eric Dunn and his daughter finished in 1:00:34. First place in the teen triathlon was Tucker Banger of Woolwich for the boys (23:39) and Julia West of Wiscasset for the girls (27:34).
