Portland author Phillip Hoose will speak about his recent book, “Moonbird: A Year on the Wind with the Great Survivor B95.” The book focuses on a nearly 20-year old bird — tagged by researchers — making annual 9,000-mile trips from Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, to breeding grounds in the Canadian Arctic. Hoose is a Newbery Honor and National Book Award winner, and his other works include: “Claudette Colvin: Twice Toward Justice” and “The Race to Save the Lord God Bird.”
