To the Editor:
I offer this letter in support of Fred Horch, the Green- Independent candidate for the Maine House in District 66.
Fred Horch’s politics are grounded in the practical concerns and experiences of a small-business owner, a father with kids in our schools, and an energetic participant in the public life of our town.
Instead of hardened party positions, I trust Fred to apply intelligent and inventive solutions to the challenges facing our community: economic security for our region, support of small local business, quality education, affordable health care and the preservation of our natural resources.
It’s refreshing to have a political candidate free of allegiance to established political parties. This is not an idealistic choice but a practical one; the impasse between the two major parties needs independent perspectives to shake up entrenched positions and encourage positive action.
Fred is deeply invested in the vitality of our community and will advocate effectively for Brunswick and the region.
Finally, I am impressed with Fred’s honesty, his commitment to family and community, and his readiness to engage neighbors in thoughtful conversation. I trust he will represent our interests because I know he will continue to listen to our shared concerns.
Please join me in supporting Fred Horch’s candidacy for the Legislature.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
