BELFAST — Aaron Barrett struck out 11 in a complete game performance as the Morse High School baseball team rolled to a 6-0 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory over Belfast on Monday.

The Shipbuilders, 5-1 and slated to host Camden Hills on Friday at 4 p.m., jumped on top 2-0 in the first. Trenton Moore doubled before Paul Whalen launched a two-run home run.

Barrett helped himself in the third. He singled, stole second and third, and scored on a single by Whalen. Chris Paulus followed with an RBI double for a 4-0 edge.

Morse added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to complete the scoring.

Moore, Whalen and Paulus each had two hits for Morse, while Aaron Doughty doubled and Keegan McDonough singled and stole a base.

LISBON 1

WINTHROP 9

The host Ramblers (3-0) spotted Lisbon (2-3) an early 1- 0 lead, scoring the final nine runs in a Mountain Valley Conference win on Monday.

Jared Hanson went the distance for Winthrop on four hits, four strikeouts and three walks. He helped himself at the plate, going 2-for-3. Dakota Carter drove in three runs and was also 2-for-3.

Brandon Hovey took the loss, combining with Tucker Brannon on five strikeouts, eight walks and eight hits.

Kyle Sheehan singled twice, while Brannon doubled. Joe Philbrick drove in the lone Greyhounds run with a sacrifice fly.

Lisbon is slated to host Oak Hill on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

LEWISTON 3

BRUNSWICK 2

Nick Perreault’s RBI triple in the fifth inning lifted the visiting Blue Devils (5-1) to a KVAC win at Brunswick (1-5).

Jason Carter pitched for the Dragons, going the distance on four hits, three runs (none earned), seven strikeouts and four walks. Parker Wild and Charlie Lowell were both 2-for-3 to pace the offense, along with Brady Larson (1-for-4, RBI) and Derek Devereaux (double, scored one run).

Brunswick is slated to visit Erskine Academy today at 4 p.m.

Nick Sinclair’s two-run single in the fourth inning gave the Bulldogs a lead they never relinguished in an MVC victory at Farmingdale.

Brian Allen and Matt Plourde combined on a fourhitter, with three strikeouts and two walks.

Dylan McMahon tripled for Wiscasset (2-3), which visits St. Dom’s on Wednesday.

Daren Wood, Zach Ellison and Chandler Lonfellow each singled, and Ellison went the distance on seven hits, four strikeouts and one walk.

FREEPORT 3

Adam Bailey limited Freeport to six hits as the visiting Wildcats improved to 4-0 with a Western Maine Conference victory.

Freeport (1-4 and slated to visit Old Orchard Beach on Wednesday at 4 p.m.) starter Jack Davenport pitched well, allowing just two earned runs in his complete-game effort. He struck out three, walked two and permitted nine hits, but five Falcon errors hurt.

“Jack did everything to keep us in the game,” said Freeport coach Hank Ogilby.

Eric Ferraras singled twice for Freeport, while Niko DiFazio doubled and scored a run.
