BREWER — The Scarborough boys and Bangor girls took home respective team titles Saturday in the State Class Track and Field Championships.

The Bangor girls compiled 84 points to beat out Bonny Eagle by six points, followed by Brewer (60), Lawrence (47) and Edward Little (41). Brunswick (23) was 11th and Mt. Ararat (19) 14th.

In the boys meet, Scarborough outlasted Cheverus (89- 80), followed by Lewiston (53), Edward Little (48) and Brunswick (41). Mt. Ararat placed 23rd with four points.

Alex Nichols of Brunswick tied the state record in the 400 (he also tied the outdoor 400 mark last winter) with his scorching time of 48.58. The Middlebury-bound senior also took second in the 100 (11.32) and was third in the 200 (23.16).

TheBrunswickboys4x800 relay of Walter Martin, Zach Miller, Christoper Tanner and Jamie Ross was fifth in 8:33.01,whilethe4x400of Tanner, Martin, Ross and Nichols placed fourth in 3:31.58.

Ross also set a schoolrecord in the 800 (1:55.99), good enough for second place.

Mt Ararat’s Andrew McCracken placed fourth in the pole vault (12-06).

Lewiston’s Isaiah Harris set a record in the 800 (1:54.17) and Jared Bell of Deering had a 176-07 in the discus for a state record.

In the Brunswick girls effort,the4x800foursomeof Tiffany Tanner, Teresa Murphy, Tessa Cassidy and Anna Cowan placed third (10:02.69), the4x400relayofCowan, Lena Martin, Anna Turner and Tanner placed fifth in 4:18.08.

Also, Allison Hill placed second in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.46 and Cassidy was fifth in the 3200 (11:51.12)

Mt.Ararat’s4x100foursome of Lizzie O’Neal, Maddison Prescott, Nicole Ross and Olivia Swan placed second in a school-record 50.80. That same group also took second inthe4x400(4:15.21).

O’Neal also placed fifth in the 100 hurdles (16.41).
