Acura’s small SUV, the RDX, is all new for 2013. Despite an impression that it looks bigger, its size has not changed. One of the cosmetic changes that makes it look bigger is a 20-inch wheel, which is partially set out from the body. What has really changed, however, is the small SUV’s powertrain. In place of the original turbocharged fourcylinder engine, it now has a modern 3.5-liter V-6 engine that is 33 horsepower units stronger than the fourcylinder version. Also included in the new package is an all-new six-speed automatic transmission hooked to an all-wheel-drive system. The RDX is also available with a technology pack that includes a navigation system and a power tailgate. The bigger MDX is still in Acura’s catalogue, while an all-new ILX compact sedan (still based on the Honda Civic sedan) replaces the older CSX. Unlike the CSX, which has been available only in Canada, the ILX is sold throughout the U.S.A.
