
Kay graduated from Morse High School in 1949. In high school, Kay played in all sports, was a member of the National Honor Society, won “Outstanding Woman Athletic Award,” and was a member of the French Club.
She graduated from Gorham State Teacher’s College where she earned her B.S. She earned her M.S. in Education with a major in English from the University of Southern Maine. In college, she was a four-year member of the Student Council, class officer, vice president of the Student Christian Association, a 4-year member of the girl’s basketball and softball teams, represented the college at the Northeastern State Colleges for 2 conferences in New York City, and was a member of the skiing and outing clubs.
On December 13, 1952, she married Alvin Wilson, the love of her life for 62 years.
Kay was a school teacher for 26 years including 2 years in Westbrook and 24 years in Topsham (6 years in junior high and 18 years in grade 6).
She was a member and founder of the Topsham Jaycee Wives, a 60-year- plus member of the Topsham Grange, member of the State Grange, United Baptist Church, a 20-year-plus member of the Eta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, member of the Maine Association of Retirees, Maine Teacher’s Association, National Education Association life member, officer of SAD 75 Teacher’s Association working on many committees, and worked for cancer funds.
Kay and her husband wintered in Cocoa Beach, Florida, for many years and summered at their cottage on Orr’s Island in Maine.
She is survived by her husband Alvin of Topsham, daughter Judith Ellis and her partner Kevin Main of Topsham, grandchildren Jessica and Jonathan Ellis, greatgrandchild Jaylen Myers, an aunt and several cousins.
She is predeceased by her parents, her stepfather Alfred Rackley, and her brother Carl Adams.
At her request, there will be no services. A private burial will be held in Rogers Cemetery, Topsham, at a later date.
