BOWDOIN — Patricia A. “the Strawberry Lady” Fenimore, 76, died peacefully at a local hospital September 12, 2013.

She was born October 12, 1936, in Sabattus, ME, a daughter of George and Arlene Curtis Merrill. She attended Lisbon and Sabattus schools, where she was a basketball standout, graduating from Sabattus High School, class of 1955. She married Donald Fenimore, May 12, 1962, in Bath, ME.

Patricia is best known locally as “the Strawberry Lady” of Fenimore Farm. She was regularly involved with local farmers markets and ran the families’ vegetable stand in Bowdoinham with her husband and brother-inlaw, Ed Fenimore. She worked for over 20 years as the office manager of the fertilizer mill in Bowdoinham. She had also worked and frequented the Town Landing Store, Bowdoinham, as well as having served as a mail carrier for Bowdoinham. Earlier, she had operated Fenimore Cake Shop with her mother-in-law in Bowdoinham. In recent years her greatest thrill had been watching and cheering her granddaughter on in basketball and softball. She is predeceased by a sister, Beverly Coburn.

She is survived by her husband Donald T. Fenimore; a daughter Lori Johnson and her husband Walter of Bowdoinham; a brother, Alton Merrill and his wife Judy of Sabattus; a brotherin law Clayton Coburn Jr. of Lewiston; a sister-in-law Georgie Fenimore of Bowdoinham; a granddaughter Morgan Johnson of Bowdoinham; several nieces and nephews.
