EBT payment system working again
Gov. Paul LePage reported Sunday morning that the Electronic Benefits Transfer system is now fully operational.
Card holders, who were turned away at grocery store cash registers when the system crashed in Maine and 16 other states on Saturday, can now use the cards, the governor said.

Man cited for OUI dies later in crash
Police are blaming speed and alcohol in the death of a 26-year-old Oakland man who was killed in a single-vehicle crash about six hours after being charged with operating under the influence.
Police say Paul Caret of Oakland was killed at about 6:45 a.m. Saturday when his car left a roadway in Smithfield, struck some rocks and hit a tree.

Kennebunkport man dies hiking
New Hampshire officials say a 69-year-old Kennebunkport man died Saturday night after apparently suffering some sort of medical condition while hiking.
The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department said Dr. Robert Fernandez, who was hiking Crawford’s Purchase, collapsed about half a mile from the parking lot while being assisted by two other hikers.
