RICHMOND — High school students from the Jobs for Maine’s Graduates program in Richmond headed to the State House recently to job shadow veteran lawmakers — part of a legislative initiative to better prepare students to meet the demands of the state’s job market.
The Committee on Maine’s Workforce and Economic Future has asked JMG to help public schools create career preparation opportunities that include practical activities such as job shadows and business tours.
Among the leaders being shadowed were House Majority Leader Seth Berry, D-Bowdoinham, and state Sen. Linda Valentino, DSaco.
JMG is a statewide, private nonprofit working with students who face barriers to education.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
