TOPSHAM — Residents of The Highlands are holding a “picking party” today to celebrate local lobstermen.
Highlands Director of Food Services Chris Toole arranged the event by purchasing lobsters from local lobstermen and handling the cooking. A dozen residents are volunteering to pull and pick meat to be incorporated into lobster rolls going on The Highlands’ menu this week.
“This is when those lobstering bank as much income as they can to last through the winter,” Toole said. “Supporting them is important for the sustainability of the industry.”
