BIDDEFORD — Robert R. Lantagne, 83, of Biddeford, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at Southern Maine Health Care, following a long illness.

He was born Aug. 7, 1930 in Biddeford, a son of Arthur and Florida (Perreault) Lantagne.

He was educated locally and was a 1947 graduate of St. Louis High School.

Robert then served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

On April 25, 1953, he married Claire Lemieux at St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.

He had been employed with Pepperell Manufacturing and later with the Saco Tannery; when the tannery closed, he worked at West Point Pepperell, until retiring in 1995.

He enjoyed bowling and following local and regional sports.

Robert had been a member of the Knights of Columbus, Luke E. Hart Council.

He is survived by: his wife of 60 years, Claire Lantagne of Biddeford; two daughters, Susan Belanger and Donna Martin, both of Biddeford; two sons, David Lantagne of Saco and James Lantagne and his wife Ann of Arundel; one sister, Simonne Benson of Biddeford; one brother, Roland Lantagne of Biddeford; five grandchildren, Jamie, Marnie, Allison, Danielle and John; and one great-granddaughter, Gracie.
