SACO — Thelma M. Haley, 97, of Saco, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
She was born in Westbrook on March 5, 1917, a daughter of John and Elmie (Schou) Romprey.
She was educated in Saco schools.
Thelma was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her family. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting and gardening. She resided in the same house for 78 years.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Gordon S. Haley in 1983; her stepmother, Ruth Romprey; and two grandsons, Joey and John Haley.
She is survived by: her son, John C. “Jack” Haley Sr. and his wife Sylvia; one daughter, Linda M. Haley, with whom she resided; two brothers, John J. Romprey Sr. and his wife Lucille and Greg Romprey and his wife Susan; one sister, Jane Picard and her husband Marc; one granddaughter, Sonya Booth and her husband John; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco. To sign the guestbook or leave condolences to the family, go to www.cotefuneralhome.com.
