BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin College softball team rounded out its regular season slate with a doubleheader sweep of visiting UMaine-Farmington on Tuesday afternoon at Pickard Field.

The Polar Bears (24-12) combined dominant pitching and a high-powered offense to down the Beavers (14-12) 8-2 in the opening game and 6-0 in a chilly nightcap.

Cielle Collins got Bowdoin started with an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the first of game one, capitalizing on a bases-loaded opportunity.

The Beavers looked to break through in their following at-bat with runners on second and third with only one out, but Julia Geaumont battled back for consecutive strikeouts to close the inning.

Back to back doubles in the bottom of the third put Bowdoin on top 2-0 after Nicole Nelson drove Emily Griffin in from second. Collins tacked on another RBI for the team’s fifth straight hit of the inning, followed by a two-run double to center from Siena Mitman.
