BIDDEFORD — Host Biddeford jumped out to an 8-1 halftime lead and cruised to a 12-7 victory over Westbrook in an SMAA girls lacrosse game at Waterhouse Field on Thursday.
Mia Laflamme scored a game-high five goals for Biddeford (4-1), and Taylor Turgeon pitched in with four goals and two assists. Emily Boisvert turned away 16 shots in net for the Tigers.
Katie Berry and Brittney Arsenault each scored a pair of goals for Westbrook (4-2).
Seagulls smack NYA in Baseball
OLD ORCHARD BEACH — The host Seagulls scored seven runs combined in the second, third and fourth innings as Old Orchard Beach topped North Yarmouth Academy 10-4 in a WMC baseball game on Thursday.
Thomas Fregeau tallied a game-high three hits and three RBIs for OOB, and Brendon Kaliher and Nate Doody each had two hits. Doody scored three times.
Logan Melnik pitched six innings of relief to earn the win for the Seagulls after starter Joe McCullum gave up a run in the top of the first.
NYA’s Haven Cutko and Joey Hogan combined to give up 11 hits over six innings.
