Heart of Biddeford’s Music in the Park on Wednesday, July 2 from 5:30-7 p.m. will feature The Band Apollo, “pure rock infused with hints of soul and club-style pop,” in Shevenell Park.

Thursday, July 3

The Maine Attraction Water Ski Team will present its “Bachelor and Bachelorette” water ski show at Number One Pond in Sanford starting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3. The event is free.

The 28th annual Family Sand Sculpture Competition in Ocean Park is set for Thursday, July 3 from 9 a.m. to noon. The competition takes place on the beach between Randall and Ancona avenues, and families can register at the Ocean Park Office or at the site on the day of the competition.

Friday, July 4

A fundraiser for the Marine Special Operations Command Foundation is set for Friday, July 4 at 10 a.m. at The Nonantum Resort, 95 Ocean Ave. in Kennebunkport. Donations will be used to support MARSOC Marines, sailors and their families. The MARSOC Foundation is a nonprofit organization, the purpose of which is to provide benevolent support to MARSOC personnel and their families. The Nonantum invites the public to attend this event featuring presentations by U.S. Marines: Capt. Dan Brooks, Lt. Col. Andrew Christian and Capt. Derek Herrera, veterans of both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

July 4th in Ocean Park kicks off with the Bike Parade at 9 a.m. at the rec hall. Pre-registration will be the week of June 26 at the rec hall, or register at 8 a.m. at the hall on the 4th. Kids can bring their decorated bikes for the parade and judging. Prizes will be awarded during the band concert following the parade. An art show and sale sponsored by Saco Bay Artists on the library lawn will run all day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. At 10 a.m., the 64th annual Independence Day Community Parade begins, which will be followed by the Ocean Park Band concert at The Bell Tower at 10:45 a.m. Winners of the bicycle contest and sandcastle competition will also be announced.

Saturday, July 5

An arts and crafts show, hosted by the Fortunes Rocks Association, will be held July 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fortunes Rocks Association Beach Club on Fortunes Rocks Road in Biddeford. Parking will be available.

The Wells Summer Concert series will feature the Strafford Wind Symphony on July 5. Concerts are held every Saturday evening from June 29 through Aug. 31, at the Hope Hobbs Gazebo at Wells Harbor Community Park. The free concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. Spectators may bring blankets, chairs and picnics.

The 32nd annual Summer Solstice Craft show is set for July 5-6. It features more than 70 juried crafters and artists at the Wells Elementary School, 276 Sanford Road, Wells, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. There is no charge for parking or admission. Sunday, July 6

The Coastal Sound Quartet will be playing dance music from the Big Band era through the Beatles at Christ Church, 6 Dane St., Kennebunk, at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 6. The quartet is made up of reedsman Jack Kupp, trumpeter Thomas Kremser, drummer Ron Breton, and “Maestro” Warren King leading the group on piano. A dance floor will be available, or attendees can just enjoy the band from their chairs. Admission proceeds benefit the outreach projects and ministries of Christ Church, and refreshments will be available.

Felix Cavalerie’s The Rascals will perform July 6 at 7 p.m., rain or shine, in Goodall Park on Roberts Street in Sanford. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Sanford Parks and Recreation Department, 324-9130, or Chamber of Commerce, 324-4280, or at the show.
