Air Force Airman Matthew K. Merrill graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Merrill is the son of Kurt Merrill of Biddeford and is a 2013 graduate of Bonny Eagle High School, Standish.
U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud will meet with veterans and other interested citizens from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday at the Fire Station Community Room, 86 River Road, Newcastle. There is a slight chance the meeting will need to be rescheduled.
Sampson Air Force Base Veterans, Southern Maine Squadron, will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Dolphin Marina, 515 Basin Road, Harpswell. Jerry DeWitt, a Tri-County Mental Health Services VISTA volunteer based in Lewiston, was recently named the American Legion’s Humanitarian of the Year for his work with veterans and their families. DeWitt also produces the annual veterans conference “Bringing Worlds Together,” and is a member of the Maine Military Community Network.
