Coach’s outlook: “Nick and Jason will be tough opponents for any of the top players from other teams. The next six players on the roster are all capable of being consistent varsity players, and have all shown the desire to improve and even be able to outplay our top players on occasion. In order for us to be a good team, we need to be more consistent from top to bottom. I expect the team to be much more competitive this year and going forward.”

KENNEBUNK RAMS

Coach: Pat Moody (16th year)

Last year’s results: 7-3

Key returning players: Connor Shillington, Dom Haritos, Jack Graydon

Key newcomer: Sam Heikkinen

MASSABESIC MUSTANGS

Coach: Scott Carbone (second year)

Key newcomers: A lot of young kids, some with a little experience

Coach’s outlook: “If a couple of the new kids that are playing can step up, we could be a decent team. My top five need to be more consistent. They all have the capability to shoot mid to high 40s, and that should come as they get more rounds in. I am excited as we start the year to see what is in store for us.”

OLD ORCHARD BEACH SEAGULLS

Coach: John Regan (14th year)

Last year’s results: 2-6 (competing as a J.V. team)

Key returning players: Senior, Rebecca Greenlee; juniors, Nate Doody, Wyatt Toohey, Max Belfrance

Key newcomers: Freshmen, Eric Boucher, Max Warden, Cameron Rice, Matt Hurley, Scott Smith, Josh Mariello

Coach’s outlook: “Stepping up to a varsity schedule will be a big challenge for this young group of players. We hope to be competitive and improve every match. I’ve been impressed with their positive attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn. I look forward to a very enjoyable season.”

SANFORD SPARTANS

THORNTON ACADEMY GOLDEN TROJANS

Coach: Jeff Camire (first year, J.V. coach for past nine years)

Last year’s results: 7-4, Finished seventh at Class A state championship

Key returning players: Juniors, Greg Kalagias, Logan Picard, Noah Jacques

Key newcomers: Senior, Lauren Wells; junior, Riley Donovan; freshmen, Jacob LaPlume, Jordan LaPlume, Matthew Merrill

Coach’s outlook: “With three players returning with state championship meet experience, we could be a strong team if we’re able to fill the last remaining spots with consistent play. We have some very talented girls and younger golfers who should all contribute by season’s end.”

WELLS WARRIORS

Coach: Jay Audet (eighth year)

Last year’s results: 6-5, finished third in Western Maine qualifier and ninth at Class B state championship

Key returning players: Juniors, Seamus McDonough, Shawn Ramsey, Mikey Stivaletta

Key newcomers: Senior, Cole Greaves; juniors, Tom Bucacci, Leo Heptig; sophomore, Katie Goodale

Coach’s outlook: “Our goal is to qualify for the team state championship at the WMC Qualifier on Oct. 6. Our individual and team preparation is designed so that each player is playing his or her best golf for that event. We expect each golfer to work very hard with an individual goal of continuous improvement.”
