BRUNSWICK — Lucy L. Earl, 78, of Harpswell Road, died Oct. 17 at Mid Coast Hospital, with her family by her side.
Earl was born in Brunswick on Sept. 7, 1936, the daughter of Lucien and Loretta Bernier Brillant. She graduated from Brunswick High School in 1954, and married David R. Earl on Dec. 31, 1955.
From 1954-1960, she worked as a clerk at J & J Cleaners. Later, she served for more than 20 years as a secretary in the Jordan Acres School.
Earl enjoyed reading, tending her flower garden, sewing, having lunch with friends, and caring for her favorite dog, Nikki. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, All Saints Parish.
Earl was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Ann Earl, who died in 1960, and two brothers, Roland Brillant, who died in 2011, and Robert Brillant, who died in 2014.
She is survived by her husband, of Brunswick; daughter, Sheryl Williams, and husband, Clayton, of Topsham; son, Wayne, and wife, Elizabeth Delano-Earl, of West Bath; six grandchildren, Jade Earl, Dylan Earl Johnson, Gunnar Earl Johnson, Courtney Guth, Cameron Guth and Connor Guth; sisters-in-law, Sue Duval, of Brunswick, and Terry Perkins, of Sugar Hill, Georgia; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces.
Visiting hours were held Wednesday at Stetson’s Funeral Home, in Brunswick. A Mass of Christian burial was scheduled for Thursday, at 10 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church, 39 Pleasant St., Brunswick, with a reception to follow at the funeral home. Burial was scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25, at noon, at St. John’s Cemetery, Brunswick.
