I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to the voters, my supporters and volunteers who were by my side these past months. I am especially grateful to all those who graciously opened their doors to me as I traveled throughout Sagadahoc County and Dresden during the campaign. It has been an honor to represent you in the Senate and I am pleased to have had the opportunity to be of service.
Though I was not successful in my bid for re-election, I will continue working for the things that matter most to working women and men in Maine: Increasing access to affordable health care; quality public education, from early years to adult learners; jobs that pay good wages so workers can support themselves and their families.
Congratulations to our next State Senator, and thanks to both of my opponents for their willingness and courage to serve the best interests of Maine.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
