OLD ORCHARD BEACH — More than 20 members of the Old Orchard Fire Department Local # 2247 raised $3,638 during the annual Fill the Boot drive throughout the summer to benefit children and adults affected by muscle disease throughout the state of Maine.
Old Orchard Fire Department plans accordingly every year and will get a crew together on select Thursday nights to Fill the Boot prior to the fireworks going off.
Funds raised through 2014 Old Orchard Fill the Boot events will help support the Muscular Dystrophy Association programs of worldwide research, specialized health care services, and day-to-day support ”“ which includes sending children affected by muscular dystrophy and related muscle diseases to a week-long, barrier-free MDA summer camp at Camp Waban in Sanford.
