PORTLAND — A 54-yearold man was sentenced to 2? years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm during a hearing Wednesday in U.S. District Court.
Lawrence Young of Lebanon was discovered hunting with a 16- gauge shotgun on May 1, 2014, in Acton, according to court records.
Young was prohibited from possessing firearms based on prior felony convictions for illegally possessing a firearm in 2013 and violating conditions of release in 2011.
Young pleaded guilty of the charge on Sept. 30, 2014.
The investigation that led to Wednesday’s sentencing was conducted by the Maine State Police, the Maine Warden Service, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
