Downtown Bath will host the 7th annual Bath Blarney Days celebration March 12- 17, when the City of Ships becomes the City of the Irish, looking forward to the arrival of Spring.

This year’s Bath Blarney Days events include wine tastings, live music, sales, promotions, free admission to the YMCA for those wearing green on Saturday or Sunday, and plain old-fashioned fun.

On Friday, the Jubilee Riots (formerly Enter the Haggis) will perform at the Chocolate Church Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. This is a notto be missed Celtic roots rock band sure to get your feet stomping and hands clapping.

A full day of Blarney Days activities will be held on Saturday, beginning with the Shamrock Sprint 5K at 9 a.m. to benefit Fields for our Future. The race will begin at the corner of Washington and Centre Streets, with registration from 8-9 a.m. Advance registration forms are available online at visitbath.com or at the Bath Recreation Department. Themed costumes encouraged.

At 11 a.m. on Saturday, the St. Patrick’s Day parade will feature the bagpipers of the Maine Public Safety Pipe and Drum Corps. This year’s parade theme is “Let it Thaw! Let it Thaw!” Entries can reflect environmental, Springtime, and other “green” interests as well as traditional Irish heritage. Community members are invited to join the parade by registering in advance at the Main Street Bath office at 15 Commercial St.

Cookie Decorating will take place after the parade at Now You’re Cooking and Green Smoothies later on in the afternoon.

Saturday’s Blarney Pub Crawl will start at 5 p.m. and will feature prizes and live entertainment. Participating pubs are the Kennebec Tavern, JR Maxwell & Co., the Front Street Public House, and Byrnes Irish Pub.
