OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Rebecca Louise Cretaro, 69, of Scarborough and Ocala, Florida, formerly of Old Orchard Beach, died Saturday, June 6, 2015, at the Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough.

She had been given care by her friend, Laura Hill, for many months prior to her death.

Becky was born in Portland, the daughter and only child of Carmen and Doris Hillson Cretaro.

She resided in Old Orchard Beach most of her life. She attended school there and graduated Old Orchard Beach High School in 1963. She went on to receive a Masters degree in special education.

Becky spent most of her career at Thornton Academy in Saco, where she was director of special education and then a teacher. She had a special bond with her students.

Among her enjoyments was traveling to Hawaii, England, Italy and throughout the southern United States, and raising several Lhasa-Apso dogs, including her current dog, Bode.

Besides her close friend, Laura Hill, she is survived by: an uncle, Leeland Hillson; a cousin, Alice Rideout Spear; her husband, Daniell and family; other close friends, Sherm and Donna Hill; and several cousins.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, at the Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home, 36 Portland Avenue, Old Orchard Beach.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated, at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 11 in St. Margaret’s Church, on the corner of Saco Avenue and Old Orchard Street in Old Orchard Beach.

Inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 12 in Laurel Hill Cemetery Columbarium in Saco.
