PHIPPSBURG — The Phippsburg American Legion Memorial Post 216 is inviting all Phippsburg veterans and their families to attend a ceremony and BBQ in honor of their service to our country. Phippsburg families who have an immediate family member serving in the Armed Forces are invited to attend the event and receive a Blue Star banner if they did not receive one last year.
The Blue Star Banner signifies that a family member is serving in any branch of the United States Armed Forces during a time of war or armed conflict. The tradition began during World War I and continues with our present conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
This event will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27, rain or shine, at the Phippsburg Sportsmen’s Association on 272 Main Road.
Guests are asked to RSVP to Gary Flemmings, First Vice Commander at (207) 443- 6170 or Mike Young, Adjutant, at (207) 389-2653 or (207) 389-1086. Attendees should provide names, service, rank and number of guests attending.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
