Soul Feast: Gospel Tent Meeting, daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with Mark Dunfee of New Jersey and Denis Dunne from Ireland. There will also be activities, music, games and vendors. The event is held at the “Jesus” tent at the intersection of routes 9 & 9A, Wells. On Wednesday there will be a special ecumenical music night featuring performers from Wells and Ogunquit churches. Featured speakers at 7 p.m. Friday will be Colton Burpo and his father, Todd, whose book, “Heaven Is for Real,” has been an international bestseller and movie. The event is free. Brothers of Christian Instruction, 10:15 a.m. Aug. 30, groundbreaking for a new retirement facility for the care of elderly members, followed by an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. with exhibits and tours of the buildings and grounds. The events are part of the Year of Consecrated Life celebration. The Brothers are located on Shaker Hill in Alfred.

Michael Smith of Portland has been selected to serve a two-year term as the chair of Catholic Charities USA’s Parish Social Ministry Professional Interest Section. He will also be a presenter at the CCUSA annual gathering in September in Omaha, Nebraska. Smith is the program manager for Catholic Charities Maine’s Parish Social Ministry program, which offers leadership, guidance and training to parishioners to help serve people of all faiths in their communities.
