BANGOR (AP) — A Bangor man charged with manslaughter and drunken driving after he crashed his car and fatally injured a passenger has been sentenced to more than two years in prison.
WCSH-TV reports a judge sentenced Keith Austin to 10 years with all but two years and eight months suspended on Monday for the crash that killed 20-year-old Nick Frenette. Frenette died the day after the Hermon crash. Another passenger survived.
Investigators say Austin was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana at the time. Austin turned himself in July 2015, the month after the crash. He offered an apology in court to everyone affected by the fatal crash.
