From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “Deputy Sherriffs Thomas Cullinan and Granville H. Murphy had a warrant to search the downstairs tenement at 4 Water St. Saturday afternoon, and when they went into the building they saw a woman making a hasty exit, and suspecting that it was a move on her part to get away from there, the two deputies gave chase and saw her throw away two half-pint bottles of whiskey which the woman had in her apron, and which they took charge of. A charge of illegal possession was preferred by the Deputy again Mrs. Menard.”
