AUGUSTA (AP) — Democrat Emily Cain so far this year is raising money at a faster clip than U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin, but she’s still trails the Republican by more than $1 million in cash on hand.

Cain, who is vying to unseat Poliquin in Maine’s northern district, out-raised him by $56,000 in the first three months of 2016, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Cain raised $385,000 to Poliquin’s $329,000 between Jan. 1 and March 31.

Considerable money is flowing to both candidates in the race, which has drawn national attention. Cain lost to Poliquin by 5 percentage points in 2014

In total, Poliquin has raised $2.2 million and has $1.8 million in the bank after expenses.

Cain has raised $1.2 million and has $785,000 in cash on hand.
