Curtis Memorial Library will host a panel discussion Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 7 pm, on browntail moth mitigation in Midcoast Maine. Panelists will give an overview and status of the current browntail moth situation, discuss impact on trees and humans, precautions to take in infested areas, and what can (and cannot) be done to mitigate the problem. See samples of overwintering nests, egg masses, cocoons, and live young so you are better prepared to recognize browntail moth infestation.
Additionally, these experts can answer questions about handling precautions, prevention, community health concerns due to exposure, what you can do to protect yourself, and more.
Panelists include: Charlene Donahue: Forest Entomologist, Maine Forest Service, Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry; Jeff Gillis: Well- Tree, Inc. Jeff is a licensed arborist specializing in preventative care of trees and shrubs; Aaron Koch, PharmD, BCPS: Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator, Mid Coast Hospital.
